As our children grow up their responsibilities as students will increased too. It is important that they have a good, organized structure in place to give them a good idea on what they priorities are. If they are good at this, these students will typically have a far less stressful school life. The real question is how should you help your child cope with stress? Well, there are a multitude of things you as a parent will have to do however, these are easy steps.

First and most important thing is identifying if your child is showing signs of stress. Young adolescent kids tend to be more reserved about their school life and not so open compared to toddlers. Some signs may be them being very quiet, lazy, eating more food than usual, unable to sleep and more. If these signs persist you will most definitely have to talk to them. Not stopping in time may lead cause harm to your child’s mental health as well as his physical wellbeing especially if he is overeating and not moving about.

Second, after identifying the root cause of your child’s stress you should then give him some simple advice, and this does not have to be a therapist level of advice. A general example would be around homework as many children are being encumbered by plethora of additional work so, some advice you could give him/her would be to do the hardest task first to get it out of the way that way they may focus more on what they like doing later. Although it is very generic but effective.

In between their work your children should take breaks and do some activities or chores in those short breaks to not be distracted by other things such as video games or toys. These short breaks allow your child to be more proactive and not be burden by all the information given to him in his work. It also adheres to the pomodoro method timing, the method works like this; your child should choose a task and set a timer for 25 minutes and after those 25 minutes he can then have a 5-minute short break and repeat this process 4 more times(breaks can be longer but recommended less than 40 min of break max) doing this does not only give him the rest he/she needs and also not over stressing their minds during their work
